Careerist or Professional?
Here is something I've learn during the Learning Journey Trip to Discovery Centre. Careerist and Professional, 2 terms which I feel that theres a need for all of you to know.
Careerist, is someone who does things for the sake of showing his bosses that he is hardworking/enthu etc. Basically a careerist works only when he knows he will be given credit for it. He loves to showcase his skills and knowledge. Some goes to the extent of showing off that he thinks he is the best among his peers or sometimes, even his seniors. Some may know how to respect, but they learnt how to bootlick first. They strive for promotions and rewards for their efforts.Without his superiors around...

Careerist: Sure sure no problem.
Professional, on the other hand, does things for the sake of benefiting everyone, not only himself. He sees something that needs to be done, he does something about it, whether anyone sees him or not. They contribute the most, yet they don't expect any returns. They treat everyone equally, not matter the person is their junior, peer, or senior. Professionals gain the most respect simply because they learnt how to respect and obey their seniors, as well as treating their juniors and peers well, in the past.
Eventually, some careerists are so good at acting, they made it to the top. Most failed, so fortunately, the top positions are mostly occupied by Professionals.
This post is not meant to target anyone, neither is it meant to be a sensitive topic. However, I would like all of you to spend a little time thinking of these questions, without thinking about which of your friends/CCA-mates fits the title of Careerist. Do you think you are a Careerist or Professional? Which one do you want to be in the future?
